I may spend time every week critiquing apps, but I have also taken a stab at creating one too! While my app is aimed more at the middle school level, I learned a lot about usability, engagement and learning when taking this path myself (and I have to admit, about how harsh social media can be if you put your work out there!)
Check out the Food for Thought app that aims to teach middle schoolers about the impact of their food choices on the environment.
It’s limited by the data that was available to us at the time – good lessons in just how much work it takes to keep a piece of software going. And yes, it’s only available on iOS because that’s all we had the money to develop.
